Hey boo, let's take a moment to talk about setting affirmations...

A few conversations over the course of a week brought this blog into existence.

The first conversation with my "alright" neighbor

I was walking my beloved puparoo around the block when a neighbor and I started talking. It was a typical conversation, he asked how I was doing which I replied "good" and he said that he was "alright" but WISHED he was good. So I asked how he was sleeping (not well) and as I continued my questioning he tried to shrug off my concern. "I'll be alright." I said "Wait a minute! You just said you want to be good but then you said you're going to be alright. You're already alright, why not say "I'm going to be good."

Does that really work? he asked me... Well, sure it does! Ya gotta speak it into existence. Say it and believe it.

The second conversation began with a community question

I asked "What does Self Love look like to you?" in an IG story I received a response that I had to address. They replied:

"Wanting to look myself in the eye and feel comfortable"

Ooof! I know this is a familiar feeling to MANY of us (maybe you too?) and I created a video response *Self Love: gazing into your own eyes* you can watch here.

However... the wording of this response inspired me to go a little further and talk about how we set affirmations.

Cause let me tell you... We are setting affirmations All. The. Time. I've talked about this before and I'll say it again: Words are powerful! They literally hold power in their meaning and intention. This shows up in the way we speak to ourselves and others. The thoughts we have and stories we tell ourselves, create our reality.

While you can use any affirmation you find, I believe it is even more powerful when we create our own, so here is a little how-to.

To Create an Affirmation:

  • Use present tense
  • Use positive language
  • Use words with conviction
  • Use words that are meaningful to you.

Powerful Beginnings:

  • I am...
  • I have...
  • I create...
  • I know...
  • I receive...

Examples:

✅ I love and respect myself
✅ I have the ability to accept my past

❌ I want to have a loving relationship with my body
❌ I am not intolerant or impatient

In an affirmation, we are affirming, so lets 👏 CLAIM 👏 that 👏 sh*t👏

Claim it boo! Cause you deserve it, are worthy and what's meant for you is yours. Don't avoid receiving what the Universe intended for you.

It doesn't have to be *this* intense...
It doesn't have to be *this* intense...
