Have you experienced imposter syndrome?

Happy December Seeker!
Last week I was a speaker on the Religious Diversity Discussion Panel held by the JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson) Diversity & Inclusion Council.

Public speaking isn’t new to me but this was the first time that I had been asked to speak as the Moon Priestess.
Druidry, which I represented in the panel, is not a religion. It’s a spiritual/cultural movement that focuses on truth and living in harmony with nature. It has no dogma, no rules for how to do this, nor set structure on how to do that. Much of how it’s practiced is being determined by modern practitioners; Druids used an oral tradition to carry their knowledge and all that we could have learned from them was exterminated with them by the Romans.
Now, why am I bringing this up? Because I’m going to let you in on a secret… I didn’t go to seminary, I titled myself the Moon Priestess *gasp*

Okay, but isn’t it a little odd that we look to other people to define us? The reality is we have to discern who we are and what we do for ourselves. We know ourselves best, and more importantly, we have the power to proclaim our truth.
So why Moon Priestess? Honestly, because that’s what I do. I perform ceremonies, lead rituals, pray with and hold sacred space for others. The Moon is to note the connection with nature and the rhythms & cycles of life. It, the Moon & Mountains, is also my nod to the "heavens & earth" of my Christian upbringing.
Speaking on the panel last week was bringing up a lot of feelings of being an imposter, but I was asked to speak, and speak I did. Going through this process helped me come to terms with those doubts that I was having, that didn’t have a place in me. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to speak with others about spirituality and to face the voices in my shadows.
If you are interested in watching the recording from the panel you can find it on the Seek the Mountains Facebook Page.
How about you, have you experienced imposter syndrome?
Message me and let's talk about it :)
In truth and light,
Julie
