The first time I heard about druids, believe it or not, was in reference to Dungeons & Dragons.

I was starting a game for the first time and had to pick a character. A friend asked me what I was going to be and with my spiritual demeanor, I thought the answer was obvious - a monk. "No," he said, "you're a Druid!" Looking them up I instantly loved the images and description of Druids being a “Priest of the old faith, wielding the powers of Nature and adapting animal forms.”.

Intrigued I decided to research them more and was surprised to find that they were real people, in a high-ranking class of Celtic culture. Historically, they played the role of priests or magicians, Bard and poet, both legal authorities and soothsayers, and perhaps most important of all, healers.

Once sought out for leadership and guidance, they were keepers of wisdom and lore, organizers of worship and ceremony. However, they, along with their wisdom and sacred groves, were slaughtered by the Romans during the time of the Gauls. Revitalized through the years, Druids have been called both pagan and Christian, but today Druidry is more of a spiritual movement and lifestyle.

Are you a Druid?

Druids have a reverence for the natural world, believing in Harmony and connection. They aspire to be at one with nature, honoring sacred plants and seeking wisdom and tranquility.

When I learned this I thought this is me. The deeper I dove, the more I learned, the more resonated with me. Not just because of my heritage but because of their deep value and respect for Nature. What do you think? Send me a message at the bottom of this page.

“Three people who will please the Gods: they who love all living beings with all their heart, they who love every beautiful thing with all their strength, and they who seek every knowledge with all their understanding.” - a triad of Druid Wisdom
